100% Syrah · The Rocks District, Milton-Freewater · 2023 Vintage

Imagine the most interesting person at the party just walked in wearing a vintage leather jacket and said nothing. That's this wine.

This is Syrah from one of the most distinctive AVAs on earth recognized by Wine Spectator as "the most distinctive AVA in the United States." The Rocks District gets its name from the basalt cobblestone soils that give every wine grown here a signature savory funk you simply cannot replicate anywhere else. Destemmed with gentle punch-downs, 18 days on skins, 10 months in 50% new oak. This is not a fruit bomb. This is a wine with a point of view.

"A beautifully layered nose, leather, fresh cut hay, roasted figs, giving way to olive tapenade, smoked black cherry, and a finish impressive in length." — Winemaker

100% Syrah

The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater AVA · Basalt Cobblestone Soils (Freewater Series) · One of only 35 vineyards in one of the world's most distinctive wine regions.

Leather · Fresh Cut Hay · Roasted Figs · Dried Plums · Olive Tapenade · Smoked Black Cherry · Smoked Meat · Pipe Tobacco · Savory Tannins

50% New Oak · 10 Months · 18 Days Skin Contact · 2023 Harvest

Destemmed and fermented with gentle punch-downs to build silky mid-palate and extend skin contact. Eighteen days on skins coaxes out the leather, savory depth, and tense tannin structure that makes Rocks District Syrah unlike anything else in the Pacific Northwest. Aged 10 months in 50% new oak. Lithe, layered, and built to evolve.
